James has over 12 years of consulting experience with core strengths in investment policy advocacy, stakeholder engagement and mapping, business intelligence and public affairs. He started his career as an Associate Consultant in the Tax & Legal Services team at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in London. He then joined Kenya’s investment promotion agency (KenInvest) serving in management including Executive Assistant to the Managing Director. In addition to supporting foreign and local investors in diverse industries, James was an active member of a number of technical committees including East Africa Community (EAC) Technical Working Groups, Kenya Post Lome Trade Negotiations (KEPLOTRADE), among others, and a member of the Task Forces responsible for drafting Kenya’s Public Private Partnership Bill and Policy, Special Economic Zones Bill and Policy and the Climate Finance and Emissions Trading Policy.

James was also a member of the technical committee at the Ministry of Finance responsible for evaluating and negotiating investment Agreements with various countries on Protection and Promotion of Investments and Avoidance of Double Taxation. James currently works with clients in the extractives sector, agriculture, energy, telecommunications and financial services and has been retained by a county government as an investment policy advisor. He was previously the Government Relations and Public Affairs lead with africapractice East Africa. James holds a Masters (M.Sc.) degree in Risk Management, Operations & Regulation and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree, both from the University of Reading, UK.
